Flexible Homeschool Planning App Review

The folks over at Flexible Homeschool, sent us a sub for their homeschool planning app to try out. As someone who is not really much of a planner, I was a bit skeptical at first. I tend to go with the flow, which is why we like homeschooling! And often homeschool planning apps are big on complication and low on explanation. But I was pleasantly surprised!

Once I had been signed up, I got a welcome email with a link to all the ‘how to get started’ resources. There are a few short videos and also a few articles to help you. They are simple, easy to understand and include useful pro tips. Obviously you need to spend some time on the planning part of the setup. But planning is simple. You add a student, you add a school year and you add what they are going to do. What I really like is the fact that you can link to resources directly in the app. You can also delete and edit really easily.

The interface of the app is clean and simple. It’s really easy to see how much work has been done by each of the kids. And the reporting feature is also great. One of the videos gives step-by-step instructions for 3 reports that you might need. They say that correctly formatted printing can be done directly from the page. I didn’t have the chance to try it out as we are paperless, for the most part.

This app was created by an app developer and a homeschooler. And it shows. It’s easy to use, works well on phone and laptop and only has what’s necessary for the planning of a flexible (realistic) homeschool year. I give it a big thumbs up!
