The social development of twins is secondary to their closeness!

The social development of twins is something that my husband and I talk about a lot. Added to this, is the fact that our boys are special needs and homeschooled. So what about socialization for our two? To be honest, it isn’t the easiest thing where we live. There are very few community activities for special needs kids. And their ‘twinness’ makes them naturally less interested in other children. Their bond is extremely close and it’s difficult for anybody else to get in there. We do however try to gently push them to meet new people whenever we can. And this means putting aside the anxiety that we also feel about taking them out in public. Lots of people don’t understand why they act like they do, so as a parent you need to have a thick skin.

This picture of Bobby (the travel-light guru from Plane Pack) and the boys is too precious. Their lack of the need for personal space is very evident here. But at the same time, their closeness is always something special to see.
