🎙 On today’s episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I speak to my dear friend Kelly Sage from @curiosityencouraged. It’s a special episode where she speaks about ways to raise engaged and joyful readers and writers. Today we chatted about how to handle homeschool breaks while we’re working. Some ideas we discussed were… 👉 Asking our kids what they want to do and then telling them we’ll do what they want, after we’ve done our work. 👉 Not being too worried about screen time when we need to get something done. 👉 Setting boundaries around our time so that we can be really present during work and also the time with our kids. 👉 Self care should be nonnegotiable. But I know that it can be hard to get to that stage. I believe by starting small, with just 5 minutes a day, you’ll get used to it. And then you can build up from there. Prioritizing and scheduling will also help. Because we always have time for our priorities, right? How much self care do you get a day?

To make the most of them I suggest: 📒 tweaking them to suit your homeschool, 📒 being open-minded about when and where learning should take place, 📒 making use of batching and blocking. 📒 "The key is not to prioritize what's on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities". Stephen Covey When I started out working and homeschooling, I was really worried about my schedule and it felt almost impossible to fit everything in. This week's content is not actually about priorities. I do love this quote as a schedule-taming enthusiast and I'm a firm believer that someone who has their priorities met, will feel more in control of their time. But I do want to give you some ideas how to manage your schedule. And to help you to include your priorities too! I'm going to put together some schedule ideas that you can use and tweak...especially if you're just starting out. I know I craved this at the beginning.
